Coming up next... Dances With Dirt

Ya gotta love a race that has a disclaimer that explicitly mentions the possibility of death, and then is proud enough of that fact to print that part of the disclaimer on the race shirts! A race that goes through Hell (Hell, MI, that is), directs traffic with signs that say "Wrong Way, Moron!", and names the legs things like "This Sucks!" and "Where's the F'N Bridge?". If that sounds like your idea of fun, then Dances With Dirt is your kind of race!

I did this race in 2004 with a team of people from work, and this year I decided to put together my own team. Aided by the very limited amount of information available on the DWD website at the time of registration in February, I managed to convince some friends to do it with me. So this Saturday, the Gu Gu Dolls will be out on the trail (and in the river, through the muck, in the lake...). Yeah, we're relatively slow runners. And more than half our team is injured. And most of them really had no idea what they were agreeing to when they signed up. But hey, we have a really cool logo:

and a great "team photo" (left to right: Peggy Herron, Jackie (I'm Not That Short!) Roehl, me, Lynnette Utecht, and Mia (I Don't Have an Afro!) Byrne:

and a great group of women who will be a blast to hang out with, regardless of the final results. What could be better than that?
